Timber Frame Gambrel Barn Kits

A barn is an agricultural construction typically on farms and used for a variety of purposes. From the North American region, a barn refers to structures which house livestock, such as horses and cows, in addition to equipment and fodder and often grain. As a result, the expression barn is often qualified e.g. tobacco barn, dairy barn, sheep barn, potato barn. From the British Isles, the expression duplex is confined mainly to storage structures for unthreshed cereals and fodder, the terms byre or shippon being employed to cow shelters, whereas horses are kept in structures called stables. On the Continent, however, barns were often part of integrated structures called byre-dwellings (or even housebarns in US literature). Additionally, barns may be used for equipment storage, as a coated office, also for activities such as threshing.
