Timber Frame Gambrel Barn Kits

A barn is a agricultural building usually on farms and used for a variety of functions. From the North American area, a barn describes structures which house livestock, including cattle and horses, as well as gear and fodder and often grain. As a result, the term barn is often qualified e.g. tobacco barn, dairy barn, sheep barn, potato barn. From the British Isles, the term barn is restricted mainly to storage arrangements for unthreshed cereals and fodder, the conditions byre or shippon being employed to cow shelters, whereas horses are stored in buildings known as stables. On the Continent, however, barns were often part of integrated structures known as byre-dwellings (or house barns in US literature). In addition, barns might be used for gear storage, as a covered workplace, and for activities like threshing.
