Timber Frame Barn Kits Vermont

A barn is an agricultural building usually on farms and used for a variety of functions. From the North American region, a barn refers to structures that house livestock, including horses and cows, as well as gear and fodder, and frequently grain. Because of this, the term barn is frequently qualified e.g. tobacco barn, dairy barn, sheep barn, potato barn. From the British Isles, the term barn is restricted mainly to storage structures for unthreshed cereals and fodder, the conditions byre or shippon being applied to cow shelters, whereas horses are stored in buildings called stables. On the Continent, however, barns were frequently part of integrated structures called byre-dwellings (or house barns in US literature). Additionally, barns may be used for gear storage, as a covered workplace, and for activities such as threshing.
