A window blind is a kind of window covering. There are several distinct kinds of window blinds which use a number of management systems. A typical window blind is made up of several long horizontal or vertical slats of various types of tough material, including wood, plastic or metal which are held together by cords that run through the blind slats. Window blinds can be maneuvered with either a manual or remote control by rotating them by an open place, with slats spaced out, to a closed place where slats float and block out most of the light. There are also several types of window coverings, called colors, that use a single piece of soft material rather than pliers.
The term window blinds may also be used to spell out window coverings generically--within this context window blinds include almost every kind of window covering, i.e. shutters, roller blinds, cellular shades (also called honeycomb colors), wood blinds (also called two inch horizontals), Roman blinds and standard vertical and horizontal blinds (also called Venetians). In the United Kingdom, awnings are sometimes called shades or blinds.|}
