A cabinet is a body of high-ranking country officials, typically comprising the top leaders of the executive branch. They are usually called ministers, but in a few jurisdictions are occasionally called secretaries. The functions of a cabinet are varied: in some states it is a collegiate decision-making system with collective duty, while in others it may operate either as a purely advisory body or a helping institution to a conclusion making head of state or head of government. Cabinets are usually the body responsible for its day-to-day management of the government and response to sudden events, whereas the legislative and judicial branches work at a measured pace, in sessions according to lengthy procedures.
